Fresh and Eco-Friendly: Step into Spring with Mia Joie

Remember those boots, way back when? Well, I love them but I was concerned about the wrinkling of them. Also, they are a real bear to make. I shutter at the thought of making just one pair and if they went over well, I'd be up there struggling with that fabric all night long. This is because the little shoes above are made from plastic. Yes, plastic. How is that eco-friendly, you ask. The plastic is made from 100% recycled milk cartons. Further more, they are lined with eco-friendly felt, too, or even organic cotton if you prefer. So, they are stylish and resourceful. Plus, I love the colors. And they are damask, and you know my love for damask prints.
Here they are in pink.

The great thing about them being made from plastic is that the shoes don't show any wear and are by nature water and stain resistant. The plastic gives them an interesting textural quality. They also feature a lined insole and my new woven labels.

They come in blue. Pictured with the butterfly skirt, which I will be selling soon... I swear.

And green, as shown with the Mommy's Little Helper Apron.

Here's a knockout photo. Yes, I give my shoes names. I have to. A few weeks after I first started selling them, a customer asked for the shoe with the pink flowers and toile. At the time, that could have included three different shoes. I almost made the wrong ones. After that, they all got names.

Here is the pink again with the Mommy's Helper Apron in jasmine with coordinating skirt.

I was playing with textures here, but in a lazy sort of way. The picture is slightly over exposed, but I didn't fix it. I like the one shoe and the green leaves sprouting. It reminded me of spring... even though I think that's actually a weed. *snicker*

As for listing my spring items, I am planning on doing so this week. I was going to today, but things didn't go quite as planned. Actually, if you are reading this post and want to see some of the new styles come back or are looking for a particular color of shoe, please post that here. It will be helpful. Thanks!

I love these "plastic" shoes!!! Very cute!
I still totally want to get a pair of the green shoes you used to sell.....i heart green!!! I cannot get enough of it!
Ashely, you mean the Olivia's? http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=13507363
What size?
Oooo yes, i love those olivia's!!! I'm thinking a size 4.5 ish....AND my size too...haha..just kidding!!!
These are so unbelievable! Can you make them in a size 7.5 ladies?! hee hee!! I'm with Ashley..I'll take a pair in my size...the blue ones :)
Kidding, but seriously though, hahah, when you get those boy ones out, I NEED to purchase!
I like the blue. I would like a pair too. hehe. Have you ever made some for yourself? Just curious. I also like the spring teaser shoe and maybe in the butterfly fabric? Can't wait.
ARRG! Love these!
We need a pair in every color--how innovative of you to use the recycled plastic.
I <3 eco-friendly products.
And I also want a matching pair for ladies. Seriously. They would so be on my feet right now.
Ha, ha. You gals are funny. No, I haven't even made a pair for myself. I have a design for a pair in my head, but I've never made them. Although, I really do prefer heels ;)
Lori, I've been thinking about you (per your email) while I've been working. I'll list a pair of Luca's for you, if you want me to. I've beeb pushing to reopen, but am a bit scared. The kiddos have been really hard lately, and it's been a struggle... I really need to turn our extra bedroom into a studio. More on that later...
Oh, Ashley, I love green, too. Practically every wall in my house is painted some shade of green.
What a neat idea. So easy to wipe off if they get a little dirt on them! Love the damask! I'm a sucker for damask, toile, and polka dots!
I can wait for you to roll out if you want, but I DO FOR Sure want the Luca shoes...
emailing you...
It hasn't been letting me post a comment, so here's hoping...
Those shoes are soo cute! What a great way to welcome spring!
Thanks, Clothesminded. I read about your move. I'm sure God has great things in store for you!
Are you still selling these adorable shoes and if so how can I go about purchasing a pair in the pink in a size 3? Thanks! My email is shaeshae02@hotmail.com
