Still Busy....

Photobucket

One would think, since I haven't had my shop completely open for quite a while now, that I would be all caught up and working feverishly on new designs. Au contraire! Rather, I have been busy with some very large orders for individuals who approached me after I closed. So, I am plugging away on those. I did, however, make my first ever Mia Joie women's shirt. I had intended to post some pictures today, but I'm always overly ambitious in my expectations. The pictures above are a special order for a special customer. The shoes are a new fabric in an old design. I haven't listed them yet, but probably will. Also, note my new woven labels! So, I am officially official... except I am completely out of business cards, again. Back to the labels, they arrived looking a synthetic bluish-white, so I dyed them in an organic black tea. Now they look perfectly vintage and especially nice paired with the reclaimed antique velvet on the bolero pictured above. I've also been driving myself mad while I work. I seem to constantly misplace things, important things, like my scissors or a pattern. Robert was snickering as I was pounding up and down the stairs, grumbling and looking for some soles I just cut out along with the other half of my brain. Seriously, does anyone else have this problem? Any tips? Remedying this might save me hours every day...

As for a bloggy preview, I have had several people mention they would like to see more before-and-after pictures on photo editing, so I'll be posting more of those, along with the women's shirt, and another giveaway all coming up over the next few days.

I had to sneak this pic of Mia into this post. Way back when, I posted that I had a white couch and you probably thought, really, white??? But see the lovely background I got in this pic I snapped of Mia yesterday while the three of us were relaxing after Aidan got home from school.

Ah! I was hoping you would venture into women's clothes (well, kinda and kinda not because I would then have to purchase them already knowing how cute they would be). Yes, I frequently leave my mind at the grocery store, ATM, etc. but I am nowhere nearly as busy as you so I can't even imagine!

FANCY LABELS! I like. Regarding the scissors. That used to happen to me all the time and my husband would get so upset cause the scissors were never where they should. Solution: sounds horrible but buy more scissors. I probably have 10 pair but I could only tell you where 4 are right now and as I find them, I put them where they belong. My son (5) just had a project, they are making the "town" and he had to make Whataburger. I was like, are you serious?? you think a 5 yr old can make this. But of course the assignment says, "thank you parents in advance" so I know they are telling me to make it. I could not find my glue gun anywhere and I wanted to kick myself!!! OH WELL, I will find it eventually. I had to use school glue and clear packing tape. It turned out pretty good. I can't wait to see your adult line...hehe.

Love the new labels. I wonder if you went thru the same place as I did. I'm actually in need of more but can't bear the thought of forking out the money. They were much pricier than printed labels but oh so much nicer.

As, for losing stuff....sometimes I swear you are blogging about me. I'm forever losing my scissors, measuring tape, patterns, my mind, etc. No, you are definitely NOT alone! It's called momnesia!

don't know why I put a comma after the word "as"....whatever, I dunno!

Well, I have to say that I relieved that I am not the only one. I'm sure it would help to be a bit more organized. Then again, I know it's not all me. One day I was looking everywhere for some shoes I just cut out. After I gave up and remade them, where did I find them the next day... in Aidan's dresser drawer!

Ariana, for a 5 YEAR OLD???! Thank goodness we have another full year until kindergarten! And, yes, another pair of scissors are in order, but like you, Hana, it's not my 1st choice of spending $20. I'd rather buy funto fabric or some great vintage trim.

I'll post pics of the shirt soon!

Oh, I forgot to add...

Hana--lol about the comma! ;) Just b/c I know all my comma rules (and I seriously, sadly do) doesnt't mean I like to use them. Also, I am a fan of some ridiulous punctuation, like the dot dot dot ..... I think it's really how my mind works, ya know... every idea... sorta... trails into the next one.. ;)

Jewelori, if you're reading, can you please resend your email? It up and vanished.

SCISSORS: You want to hear something funny. I was looking for some glasses and as a last resort, I went to my husband's workshop (I go in there 2 times a yr if that). He had 2 pair of my scissors on his work table!!! So maybe it's not me misplacing them either...

Ah ha! BUSTED! That reminds me of the time I found all my *paper* shoe patterns in the toilet. Now I know that wasn't where I left them....

Scissors: Ditto to buying more. I have 4 pairs, and still lose them...and I only sew and cut out in one room of the house!

As for the creative thing....you would think as I am madly trying to get orders out, I wouldn't slow down for anything. No. I got this great idea for a knit sundress for our vacation, and had to stop, dig out the material and pattern, and at least dream about how I would change it up a little and make it more "me". All right in the middle of sewing up a pair of shoes! My brain just gets so scattered when I am in the creating mood!

But I have given up on having the perfect house at all times long ago. I couldn't do it, and it actually caused me more stress to press myself to do it. I was raised "clean up as you go" but my creative, scatteredness just doesn't mesh with that. I clean it up in huge cleaning sprees about twice a week. And that works for me. And I am so much happier! I have learned to be OK with that. Toys get picked up every night, but that's about it. Sad. Please do not drop in on me unless it's Tuesday. :-) The only day of the week you will find a spotless house.

Oh, Jenny, at least you have ONE day! But the letting go is good, I think. I'm trying. However, I was still mortified to find a rotting sippy cup under the couch and a half eaten slim jim in the bathroom.

I only have the one day because we frantically pick up all day Monday for our community group we host at our house on Monday nights.

And speaking of rotting sippy cups, Ainsley found one under my bed last week that had had milk in it that had now soured in a BAD way. She took a huge swig before I could stop her. Her gagging and spitting, and shouts of "Yucky Mommy!" sent both my husband and I into the giggles. Oh poor baby! Now she asks, "Yucky Mommy?" before she takes a drink from any cup I give her. It's so sad that she even has to ask.
