Something New
Remember when I said I had something new for women to show you--an idea you probably haven't seen before? Well, I'm finally getting around to taking a picture. I'm so excited about these my hands are a little shaky, but... umm... I think that might just be the Red Bull. It started with the shoes pictured below, on the Anthropologie website.

They are called Camellia Espadrilles. They retail for $368, and they are so popular that they are sold out. I don't know what it is about fucshia... it's not the most practical of colors, but I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Anyway, I like the concept of the huge bright flower, but at that price tag, even if it was within my budget, it's not exactly something for everyday. So, I came up with this unique concept instead.

I designed these shoe accessories. They have a t-strap made of cork that is backed with organic cotton. The ties are vintage seam binding. The concept is fairly simple. They have a small clear elastic loop that the middle toe slips into, and they stay quite securely and comfortably in place by tying them around the ankles. The idea is that you can take any shoes: peep toe, round toe, simple pumps or pointed toe in a neutral color and add this accessory. I used a pair of wedge sandals {currently available here at Target}, but most women who own high heels probably already have something in her closet that would work. I have a lot more designs: fringe, poppies, billowy chiffon for weddings. I wish I could just create new designs all day.

As it is, I am so busy... much, much, much too busy. In fact, I am probably going to close for a bit. I was just contacted about some very good online press, so I'm hesitant. I hate to lose out on a press opportunity, but, at the same time, I'm try to stay low on the radar.
Back to the concept above, I'd really love your help with a name... "t-straps" "shoe accessory"... I can't think of anything good, though I haven't invested a considerable amount of time trying. I made another design in brown and green, too. You can see those pictures here and here. So, not only do I have a couple of these new shoe accessories made, I also have more designs in baby shoes to post, but... honestly, I feel so overwhelmed right now. Hopefully, I'll get miraculously caught up. Have a lovely Tuesday!

Hi, Jessica! You are amazing! I absolutely love the shoes and the completey new look you created! Thanks for using our seam binding!
Nancy
Oh my god, these are gorgeous! What a concept! You need to patent these now before someone else gets to it.
I got the shoes for Mary's baby the other day - totally perfect and everyone that has seen them has fawned over them. Thank you so much Jess! BTW - she had the baby last Thursday (2 1/2 weeks early... Nora Colleen).
If only there were more of you to keep the designs coming and the blog posts rolling! Can't you hire a few worker bees to sew, write, etc. so that you can have some free time?? You are truly gifted!
Kate--you're so sweet. Honestly, I thought for sure you were less than happy with me b/c I think I had your time line wrong for the shoes. Plus, I wanted to add a little something extra, you being a good friend and all, but... uh, I'm just so behind. Rain check--promise. Btw, you're little guy--absolutely adorable. He has your lips and cheek bones, no? I'm going to put more into an email for you soon! :)
Oh, yes... a patent. I've been thinking about that, too. Thought I'd test the waters first. :)
Need you test the waters?
I don't think I've seen anything come from your hands that isn't truly amazing and oh so creative!!! I just love love love the shoe accessory! Would you mind throwing some crafty talent back in the craft pot? I seemed to have missed my fair share :)
I'm going to think on a few names for you. Maybe you need to do a name game challenge or something..get your mind off that and onto something else..we can do some of the work for ya!
Yes, Lori, that's a good suggestion. I'm all about delegating... *snicker* What would you suggest? And you, my dear, are quite creative yourself, btw. I haven't opened your convo yet... but I will. Bear with me :)
I'd say put up a poll on your blog...or a name game challenge. Example:
Have everyone choose as many names as they think would be fitting, and for how many names they pick they get that many entries into a draw. You then randomly pick a name and the person who made up the name wins.
OR
Have everyone make up some names....collect all the names after a few day period, put them into a poll, and have everyone vote. The largest amount of votes wins.
Those are some easy and fun ways to get a name, and get some more people to your blog *hee hee!* Let me know if I can help in anyway!
p.s Thanks for the compliments ;) You'll like my convo..and...
p.p.s Hubby bought me the book Twilight...I'm pretty much done and he bought it for me on Sunday!LOL!
p.p.p.s
I attempted the Spring flower idea you had, with the fresh twigs and dollar store flowers!! Check out my blog to see how it turned out :)
Lori, Twilight... hmm... yeah, kiss the next couple days of your life goodbye. ;) It's not very well written and the gramma {oh, the grammar!} but I must admit that I devoured all 4 books nonetheless. FYI, book 2 is a disappointment, but 3 and 4 are better. I blame Hana that I got hooked. You readin', Hana, it's all your fault ;) he, he. just kidding.
Yeah I'm readin! I can take it! I figured you'd get them all read before me...you speed reader you! I finished Sunday, but in my defense I didn't get to read for 2 or 3 days straight. LOL! What did you think?
Get a patent now!! Someone will steal your idea! I love it.. Anthropologie might pick you up and sell in their stores!!
O my gosh! These are so cute!!! Great job Jessica. I can't wait to see more designs from you!
Lori, I think gathering names is a good suggestion. I could give away a free pair... just means another giveaway to post. I like the idea of voting, though I would probably just pick my fav anyway.
Hana, I'll email you. FYI, your package is not lost. M'eh. Don't kill me... I had good intentions. Like I said, I'll email you.
Rachel, yes, I need to call my uncle about it.
That is so creative and cute! CUTE IT SHOE CLIP came to mind. Sounds kind of tacky but just thought I would throw it out there. I am going to look in my shoe inventory and see how many shoes will benefit from this amazing invention!
MIA JOIE SHOE "T" ACCESSORY
YOU AMAZE ME! I love love love these and would DIE to wear them to BlogHer this summer! ;)
I need more of your fab baby shoes, too! I sold out so quick and have been stalking your blog towait for you to say "YES, I am wholesaling again" :)
Jessica, love the shoe accessories! How about Beau-tees something like that like beautiful and T for the t-strap? What is beautiful in french...Belle-Tees?Sound like a teeshirt? Maybe just T? Janet
Loved Beau-tees, but ya know the Yankees are gonna pronounce them Beauties! Foot Flair, Ankle Amusements, Pretty T's, Shoe Thongs (maybe not the image you want), Shoe Strings (get it -- haha). None of these names do them justice. These are very hip, very chic, and just fabulous. My friends and neighbors in Manhattan would scoop these up.
Thanks, Griffin and Janet. Hmmm, I like the idea of playing with the "T" idea because I'm not crazy about "straps." Then again, thongs, he he does conjure other images. Though the creator of Spanx was very intentional on the innuendo behind the name. Ankle Amusement... that's cute, too. Hmmm...
I love it when necessity brings about inventions like this :O) WOW! I am so happy to have stumbled upon your blog and Etsy shop! I will be visiting often. And I will probably post about you soon on my blog. Please update your shop as soon as your mommying will allow :O)
