Hansel and Gretel Boots

At long last, the Hansel and Gretel boots are here. This design was created late one night over a year ago after reading the children the classic bedtime story. I never intended for these to be my first manufactured product, but I had overwhelming interest from one international customer and ended up taking them into production.

They are made of white faux fur with tan suede straps. The boots are lined with organic fleece, have a tan outsole made out of recycled rubber, and have velcro closure. Each pair comes in an organic cotton labeled fabric bag.

The shoes are available in size 1-7. The Hansel boots have straps, while the Gretel boots feature adjustable laces.

SHOE SIZE CHART
Size........ Age(months).......Outer Sole of shoe, in Inches
..1................0-3................... 4"
..2................3-6................... 4.5"
..3................6-12..................5"
..4................12-18.................5.5"
..5................18-24................5.75"
..6................24+....................6"
..7................24+....................6.25"
Sizes relative to age serves as a guide only. Whenever possible, I recommend measuring to ensure proper fit.

HOW TO MEASURE
Have your child stand on a piece of paper {wearing socks or tights, however he/she would wear the shoes} and mark the toe and heel. Measure the distance, then add 1/4" - 1/2" depending on how much growing room is desired.

ABOUT DURABILITY
Please keep in mind that these shoes have soft soles. This makes them light-weight and comfortable for your little one. The rubber soles are thin, flexible, and waterproof, not heavy and stiff. They are durable enough to handle all outdoor surfaces, but are not recommended for heavy playground use.

Mia Joie is an eco-friendly and boutique line of products with limited availability. The price is $32.50. All domestic boot orders will ship on or before December 18 and arrive in 2-3 days. International customers, please contact me for shipment details and pricing.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

YAY!!! What if we just want to order 1 pair? The link automatically adds to pair to paypal...

SOOO EXCITED Jessica! Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Anon, good point! I didn't even think about that. I'll add that option.

Jess,

I am so excited!!! Let's just say I just did my Christmas shopping for all the babies (6) in our family! YEAH!:) I can't wait to see all the mommy's smiles from ear to ear! Thank you so much for these beautiful little cozy boots!

I know how busy you've been, I figured you were holding off on shipping the sabre and zindaine headbands until now, but incase it was an oversite, can you send them with this shipment?

I hope you are doing well and having a wonderful holiday so far!! You certainly have plenty of birthdays to celebrate during this season~that's for sure!!

Thanks so much,

Kristy

p.s.
What a charming photo of your parents!

Ok, my cousin and I are trying to buy some now, but says there is a problem with paypal on the seller's end? Are we doing something wrong? Hopefully they aren't sold out already!! :(

Jessica Haley said...

Amy, I think you were trying to make the purchase while I was modifying the button. Did you try it now?

Amy said...

yup, I got it! :) But silly me, I forgot to add sizes/styles, so sending you an email right now. Sorry!

Theresa said...

Congrats on this milestone, Jessica!

For some reason, the Paypal link is not working for me....will try again tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

I was just able to make a purchase w/o a problem...

yawen said...

Hi Jessica,

Thanks! They are adorable!! For some reason, I am not able to purchase through IE at first. Then I tried to link through firefox and it worked!! Looking forward to receiveing them!

Theresa said...

Persistence pays off! It worked. Thanks!

Meredith said...

Oh no :( I can't believe I missed the original listing - stupid food poisoning you have the worse timing!

Jenni said...

While we won't be purchasing these boots (Lola would do a number on the white) they are beautiful! I think I love the Hansel pair the most! Miss Mia's hair is so cute in the pictures and speaking of pictures, they are beautiful!!!

Congratulations on your success and hard work! Your shoes are beautiful! We can't wait for the Rae Lynn's to arrive in the future!

Anonymous said...

To confirm, the Gretel boots are the boots Mia is wearing and the Hansel boots are the ones the blonde little girl and boy have on...correct?

Meredith said...

Oh my gosh I almost passed out thinking I missed this thing entirely, I was waiting for it all day and I guess this was after I settled in last night. I am so excited for you and all of your success. I will be keeping an eye out today.

Jessica Haley said...

Anon, you are correct. The Gretel boots have the ties and the Hansel boots have the straps.

Meredith, nothing has sold out yet :)

However, I did make the post fairly late yesterday. I am trying to take all time zones into account, and didn't want sizes to sell out before customers on the east coast or in Europe may have even seen it. This is why I suspended the link. I wish I could just post everything by size, but Paypal doesn't give 14 options {which I would need} for a paypal link. *sigh* I'm sorry, I feel like it's confusing...

Meredith said...

Jessica,

Thanks is not enough for all the amazing work you do and your awareness of every little detail. Please remember we all want you to take time for yourself and your family, not just now but WHENEVER you need it. I have no doubt it is a hard thing to do, but when you can you must!

I can only speak for myself, I don't find the PayPal link confusing and it is WAY less stressful than etsy (my blood pressure can't handle etsy or ebay right now haha!). What *is* confusing is there are two Merediths posting on your blog. I always have a HEY THAT'S MY NAME! moment when I cross paths with another Meredith.

I'm such a dork sometimes.

Really do hope all is as ok as it can be for you and your family right now!

Katie said...

Jess- I received all the clippies and DANG GIRL you outdid youself! Thanks so much!

Looks like I was so busy admiring my Ella (with cuties clips in her wee hair) I missed the boots!

I hope I catch a pair or two in part duex :)

So sorry for your loss.

I've been trying with a vengeance to purchase my first pair of coveted Mia Joies but keep missing out. Since this is the season to "believe", I'm going to believe really hard that I won't miss the next chance. Thank you for creating such beautiful things.

Anonymous said...

i absolutely LOVE your work but am SO sad to say that i ALWAYS seem to JUST miss out!!!! i was so sure i'd be able to partake of the Hansel/Gretel sale on the first round...i'm very saddened by this and am hoping to be able to make my purchase whenever the next link is posted, etc.

Stacy Mandania said...

Woo Hoo!! So happy to see that those beautiful Hansel/Gretel shoes are here!! So sad, to see that I missed out the first go-around..and I'm on the west coast. What a slacker I am...LOL I'll be blog stalking for sure! Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get the size/s I need :)

Thank You Jessica for all your hard work and talent! You are simply an inspiration!

These are amazing and would look so handsome on my boy! You're incredible at what you do!

Rocio said...

Okay, I must be in Bizzaro World. I checked yesterday and nothing was listed. I checked this morning and so many have been sold that I have to purchase tomorrow. I literally stopped and looked at the calendar to make sure I didnt miss a day. But I wasnt in a coma...I'm just not checking back often enough!!! Shame on me. Will wait patiently for tomorrows listing.

P.S. I'm so sorry for your loss. May he be at peace in heaven.

Tara Uffelman said...

I was one of the lucky night owls that caught the listing...so happy to be finally getting some Gretel's for my daughter!!!

On a more important note, I just wanted to pass along my condolences again. I hope today met you and your family with grace and peace as you remember your Grandfather today.

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

Hey Jess, the link isn't working, it keeps giving a paypal error message!

Jessica Haley said...

Rocio, you are right to be confused! The paypal link was only up for a very short time rather late last night, and I sold a lot of orders very quickly--in particular, many orders of the same style and size. A paypal button does not have enough optionsfor me to manage my inventory by style and size. So, I need to be able to monitor the sales, so I don't over-sell a certain size. I hope that makes sense! Anyway, it's up again now.

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

Ok Jess, after much freaking out and trying for 15 minutes on internet explorer I switched to another computer with firefox and it worked through there, so for any people having problems ordering through IE, try another browser! Every single time with IE it would give me a "sorry this transaction can't be completed message" immediately when I clinked the link.

Jessica Haley said...

G'ah Jen, I'm sorry... what a mess about the browsers. This is interesting. I mean, I sold 50 pairs in that past 10 minutes....

Michelle Fowler said...

Thank you so much for the chance to get in on these. I assume that we will get email notification if the sizes ordered are sold out, is that correct?

So excited to get my hands on these!!! Thank you!

christy said...

I'm so excited that I was able to purchase a pair of the Gretel boots (I hope my size didn't sell out even though it let me purchase). I completed my order before I thought to change the shipping address that I have saved on PayPal. I sent you an e-mail requesting that they be shipped to another address. Thank you!

Jessica Haley said...

Michelle, I will not sell you a size and then tell you it's not available :) If I sell out of one size, I will suspend the paypal link again, and figure something out.

Meredith said...

50 pairs in 10 minutes!! Wow that is remarkable
I just contributed to the madness but am so excited!! I owe you a painting Jessica, Bronwyn is the best dressed baby thanks to your creations!

Hi Jessica, It's been a while. I placed an order tonight (after midnight for me) and am excited to receive them as always. I know Maya will love them. She wore/played with her red shoes so much she split the back of one!

Blessings and happy holidays to you and your family. You are all in my prayers.

May the new year bring prosperity, peace and joy to you and all you hold dear.

Katie said...

I keep getting this message:
Sorry — your last action could not be completed
If you were making a purchase or sending money, we recommend that you check both your PayPal account and your email for a transaction confirmation after 30 minutes.

If you came to this page from another website, please return to that site (don't use your browser's Back button) and restart your activity.

If you came from PayPal's website, click the PayPal logo in the upper-left corner to return to our home page and restart your activity. You might have to log in again.

What am I doing wrong?

Katie, I'm sorry--I don't know! It seems to be processing other orders. Send me an email: miajoieboutique@yahoo.com

I had the same problem, what I ended up doing was downloading and installing the Firefox browser (I was using Avant - thank you to Mrs.Life Accounts!). Then I didn't experience any problems using the paypal link with Firefox - hope this helps!

Anonymous said...

Oops, I don't know if that came out right - I wanted to thank Jen (I think) for suggesting Firefox - thank you Jen!

Theresa said...

Katie, it sounds like a lot of people have been experiencing the same problem. I followed the suggestion of two posters (Yawen and Mrs. LifeAccounts) and downloaded the Firefox browser as well, and it finally worked for me. Good luck!

Katie said...

Jess- I couldn't make it work- sent you an e-mail! Sorry to be a PITA :(

Meredith said...

Wow this was so exciting and I am in shock they haven't sold out yet. I hope this is a sign of things to come. Jessica thank you for offering such a fabulous special and for doing it at such a difficult time.

Angel Warrior said...

It is so exciting watching this transpire over your blog! Just the other day, you were saying how you have HUNDREDS and don't expect to sell out... mmmmhmmmmm! What are you thinking right about now? :) I am so happy for you!

YEAHHH!!!! I FINALLY GOT TO BUY SOMETHING!!! hee hee

Don't hate me--lol--I just emailed you because I wanted 2 of the HANSELs not the Gretels and I noted in my payment the wrong way :( MUST have the strap ones--I love them!!

Jessica--you are such a rockstar! I was one of your 1st Etsy customers when you were selling those adorable felt flower clippies :) I have several pairs of your baby shoes that didn't sell in my store and I am SO happy to have them for my little girl coming this Spring! :) You are so talented and I am so excited to see you grow so much!!

Mucho love & respect!!

Ok your shoes are super addicting and that PayPal link is staring me down. I so want to get more shoes because I can and that's a rarity with your shoes but crazy to think of my daughter being 2 years old when she is just now 4 months. I think I am going to dream about these cute boots tonight.

Meredith said...

Well I can sleep better tonight knowing I bought some for down the road...LOL! Love your shoes and since I have found the best shoes I can't settle for less. Hope your getting some rest tonight.

Jessica Haley said...

Kristy {Angel Warrior}, it's quite a unique experience: both exciting and nerve-racking. Robert was in the living room when I first reissued the paypal link today and my phone {I have a blackberry} was ringing incessantly. Robert looked at me with raised eyebrow and asked if they were all sales, to which I replied: "um..." *gulp* "yes." Did I expect this? No. Never.

I know it's been like this--selling in a frenzy--since July, but I still don't expect it. In fact, each new listing, I think, "This time some items will sit around for a while. I'll be okay with that." But they don't. I feel blessed. Stressed out, but blessed for sure.

At this point I have suspended further sales. I have not sold out; in fact, I have not sold many of the smallest sizes. However, I have sold much more than I anticipated and am close to selling out in size 4. Also, these are time-sensitive orders, and each order requires more than just putting items in a box.

I feel so bad that customers are installing browsers! Gosh, I'm so sorry! I hate that the sale is so inconvenient. Above all, I really want my customers to be happy, and I mean that in a very sincere and non-kitschy sort of way. Robert and I prayed that things go smoothly, that I survive now through the 18th, but most of all that people find joy in my products. That, to me, is paramount.

CANADIAN AMERICAN FAMILY said...

Im beginning to think I may never get a pair of your shoes..everytime I try the links gone!

LaDawn D said...

Jess,

What an overwhelming last few days for you! For the loss of your grandfather I pray that your family may find peace and may enjoy the wonderful memories your Grandfather left as his legacy. "We go from loving them in the presence, to loving them in the absence."

On a more business minded note, my heart skipped a few beats when I saw that the Paypal link was down after the first nights listing...I mean these are the boots that I have been pining over for months and could I have really missed them? HEHE Well, I am relieved and excited to say that I was able to purchase yesterday afternoon and even on Internet Explorer!!! The first 3 times I tried to purchase it was telling me sold out...but I was patient and figured that the link maybe was not reset and finally that moment of exhileration when I received my purchase complete message:) teehee.

To everyone that is having trouble getting a pair of the amazing Jessica's shoes, I suggest becoming a follower of her Twitter account. I personally have it sent to my cell phone as a text message. For example I was in the grocery store yesterday when the twitter message came through that the paypal link was going back up...I stopped shopping and headed for home immediately to secure my pair of Gretel boots! I know, obsessed doesn't really begin to cover it! Hope that helps...and Good Luck to all of you still awaiting your purchase complete message.

Jessica, I wish that there was a way for more of us to help, but we are glad that you have Jennifer and that you are able to rely on someone for assistance. Take care of yourself, we all care more about YOU than the shoes!!!!

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

Jess-I posted a giveaway on my blog this morning for a pair of your shoes so expect even more traffic coming your way! (as if you didn't have enough already!!!)

LaDawn, thanks for the tip about signing up for Twitter. Nothing has been this pressing to make me want to sign up on Twitter before:-)
Jessica, hope you are finding some needed tranquility amongst all this commotion. Looking forward to that Paypal button going back up to get the Gretel boots!

Oh, so sad I missed out, but I do hope you'll repost a link in the next day or so? I'm going to follow on Twitter as another commenter suggested (good idea!).
Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!

Jessica Haley said...

To Canadian American Family, Mn, Brianne, and others: I do hope to restore the link! However, we are a very small staff here at Mia Joie, so just relabeling, packaging, and shipping order volume in the hundreds is challenging.

I want to make sure I am able to manage the current orders and ship them out before I take any more. Yes, I will post updates via Twitter, and I apologize for the inconvenience of joining another form of social media!

After Dec 18, I will close Mia Joie through the Christmas. I have two small children, and I want to take some time off so I am able to do festive holiday things with them. In addition, I have worked hardest at the business of Mia Joie than any other job in my entire life. I'd like to take a short time to rest, and who knows... maybe even use a little creativity for my own daughter or myself! However, I'll be blogging through it all and probably offering an occassional extra here and there.

Meredith said...

Gosh Jessica I wished I lived closer because I would totally come and help you pack orders and such. Just to be amongst all of those fabulous shoes would be payment enough for me.

I just wanted to ask if you have ever thought about having a gallery? So we could send and view pictures of all the well dressed babies wearing your fabulous shoes. You could even have a fan page on Facebook?

Prencie said...

OMG!!! I can't believe I missed out! I plan to get some of your boots eventually whether before or after the holidays ;) How exciting to see the overwhelming response!! But i didn't ever doubt it would be any different:) Merry Christmas Jess to you and your family!

I'm looking forward to some boots, but I can wait until after Christmas :) -Laura

Corey Burge said...

I'll be waiting patiently for the boots! And I need them in the smaller size too!

Jessica Haley said...

Sorry you haven't heard from me in awhile. It's been challenging getting all the orders ready for shipment. It's taking a lot of late nights, help from AMAZING friends, and a few impromptu college hires to get everything ready.

IF YOU PLACED AN ORDER: you should have received an email confirming shipment. If you did not or you have questions, please let me know right away. Domestic orders will arrive 2-3 days from today. I put a note for international customers to contact me b/c they will go out USPS first class {7-10 business days.} If you have ANY question about your order, please email me {miajoieboutique@yahoo.com}

IF YOU DID NOT PLACE AN ORDER: I am undecided whether or not I will take additional orders today or just wait until after Christmas. I run my business in tandem with taking care of my children--not an easy dichotomy. I'll post an update this afternoon. Even if I don't open the link today, I have a few OOAK items I will be posting on my blog over the next week or two. Also, I will of course be taking boot orders after the holidays--hopefully on my website and not the paypal link.

Happiest of Holidays!

My Gretal boots arrived today! I ran home just to see them (like they were for me or something). I sent them off to my god daughter. I can't wait to get pictures of her in them. Thank you for providing such an adorable and desirable product. Kids shoes are so hard to find. You've found a great niche.
