Happy Holidays!

I have been reading all these lovely holiday posts on other people's blogs. I had grand aspirations of a Christmas post... maybe even one on holiday baking. Hearkening back to my personal chef days, I thought about sharing one of my favorite dessert recipes and even bought ingredients for vanilla bean crème caramel--that are sitting the fridge unassembled. I also thought I would take cute photos of the kids on Christmas with nice bokeh of the twinkling holidays lights. Maybe even dress them up and take pictures of them all stylish by the tree. Aidan, however, refused to hold still. Mia is generally a much more complacent model, so I made her an organic herringbone dress... but I rushed and made a few errors... and she ended up looking more like a medieval peasant. Determined to make something for my girl, I quick made her a little cream hat... which she threw in the mud as soon as we got outside for pictures. Thus, my holiday photos were officially sabotaged.

Instead, I have been working on a new project, as noted in the pictures. It's a different direction and one I haven't gone with my business before.

In fact, the first person to guess it correctly in the comments below wins the little burgundy shoes in the picture. I'll give you one hint: no labels.

Having given up on Christmas pictures, I let my kiddos just be kids and followed them around with my camera instead. Here they are, enjoying their gift from my aunt and uncle.

Aidan thought he was the cat's meow behind the driver's seat of the mustang....

Mia is actually a better driver than Aidan, and when I asked her where she was going, she said, "Oh! Shopping!"

I have been working on a grand to-do list that makes my head spin. It's in the other room right now. It's almost as though I feel it watching me every time I walk by. So much to do. However, I am *by golly!* taking time to do some fun creative projects. And, just as I said, I will be offering some of them here either for sale or as a giveaway, starting with those little shoes. But you have to guess correctly..... ;)

I have never seen a mustang car for kids before! Its so cute. My daughter has a "harley." I have no idea but I'm just going to guess: outsourcing?

Meredith said...

Are you working with another company/business to sell your shoes? Also, having them manufactured right?

Oh and if I was guessing more specifically, those fancy shoes would be great with eden's bouquet or Matilda Jane...or a similar upscale company. I just hope I can get my hands on them wherever they may go!

OK, I'm truly stumped...I have no idea...umm, don't laugh... making shoes for preemies? Or baby dolls? They look very small..hmm? Well, hopefully someone will guess right cause it's killing me not knowing!:)

A new project, eh...can we have more than one guess? I am going to guess, clothing. You're going into children's clothing.
The shoes, as always, are just way too darling!!

Ok whatever it is I'll take 1 of each in Emme's size :)
Happy New Year Jessica! XOXO

I have no idea... but, they NEED a label!!! :) I love Mia Joie labels :)

Both those shoes are so precious, I love them! You have already sold wholesale to boutiques so I am guessing that you are designing for another company or line. I can just see these in the next jack and jill store or crewcuts magazine...well actually your shoes are too amazing for those type of stores but you get my meaning! ;) Merry Christmas to you and your family, hope it was relaxing for you all!

Lol! You gals are all sort of right in one way or another, actually. Well, everything except Matilda Jane, but even Eden's Bouquet and I are working on a trade and perhaps cross promoting as well. But that is not THE answer, about the pictures I mean. Keep guessing....

Jessica Haley said...

Jen, you are I were posting at the same time. No--it's not that big of a project, though I would love to design for a huge company. Something that big would get a post all it's own. Think smaller... ;)

I am thinking fabric design and/or patterns...
Happy New Year!

Are you having a baby? So you made a boy or girl pair cause you don't know the gender yet?

Meredith K said...

This is killing me and Harlow is chewing my hand as I wrack my brain on it

Meredith K said...

Are you going to put your name on the bottom soles instead?

FELTED WOOL. COOL DESIGN I DONT KNOW IF I SEEN THAT DESIGN YET. ARE YOU DESIGNING NEW STYLES?

Meredith said...

Are those the first line of shoes to be put on your website?

Meredith said...

Oh my gosh this is making me a crazy person...

Meredith said...

Making special shoes for photo shoots for different companies/businesses?

seg said...

Buttons, felt or labels. Do I have to be more specific? ;p

peanutfeet said...

Are they for someone in your family that is having a girl?

Meredith said...

totally not on the contest for a minute but... Your shoes and eden's bouquet clothing are my two addictions, gosh I just adore you both and my baby girl Harlow pretty much just wears you both cause your both the BEST! Maybe it's a good thing your website isn't up with all of these options cause then I would shop all the time like I do eden's bouquet.

Awesome about getting your house cleaned, such a priceless gift of TIME!

hmmm... donating shoes maybe? shoes for dolls would have been my first guess :)

Imprinted logo on the bottom of the shoe?

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

changing your logo?

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

gosh I want to win these so bad....are you having the manufacturing company imprint the sizing & logo into the sole?

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

are you using these photos as photocards? New pamphlet design for the website?

Sarah Root said...

personalized shoes? instead of the label, the child's name?

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

tags on the tongue inside the shoe?

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

did you make these for a magazine shoot? or to be used by someone else/another company or line in a promotion?

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

ps, I have to say that I am DYING at what Mia said, I swear sometimes the stories you tell makes me think she's my own! :) She looks right at home in that mustang on her way to shop!

Jenni said...

I have no idea, but i am sure whatever it is, will be great! And I too love the new pic for the comments!

So if I had to guess and it didn't include labels but had to do with the boy and girl shoes in the picture and Mia Joie...you are having a another baby and this is how you are going to announce it to us?! Your family is creative with the baby announcements - and it is a boy, you know it is a boy, that is why you are giving away the girl shoes?!

Jenni said...

ok - one more try, animal accessories?!

Since I have always felt an undescribable attachment to you, you think I would know, but I am only guessing. Since you are gifted with an eye for photography, I am thinking it is related somehow. Is your Mom close???

Meredith said...

I'm guessing doll shoes!
:)

Alejandra said...

I'm going to guess you will have hard sole shoes, therefore no label (because they will be imprinted on the bottom of the shoe).
Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be wonderful!

Alejandra said...

Ok, one more guess; Are the little tabs on the back of the boy's shoes your new logo tabs? therefore no labels....

Katie said...

Love your new shoes!! No labels- are you getting into music and you can't find a label??? Don't tell me you are crafty AND sing :)

Katie said...

Is the name MiaJoie written into the shoe sole?

WOW! I truly have no idea what the new project is. I do know that I love the boy shoes...not that I have any boys at my house, but I am sure to have a nephew someday:)

As for my guess as to your new project I am thinking that you are going to be selling the wholesale to boutiques or something of that nature?

Angelique R said...

Loved your holiday post. Who needs another recipe anyway.

I'm guessing unisex shoes.

seg said...

Like Alejandra, I was going to guess hard soled shoes. But that's my last guess, I'm stumped! :)

Hi Jessica-
Love the pics of the kids-- they look so happy in their new ride! Hmmm, so a new project with no labels....stumped. But I can't wait to hear all about it. I'm sure it is something fabulous. And Jessica, I'm glad you are taking a little time to do some fun creating, I am doing the same. It is so re-energizing. Enjoy the holidays. xo Simone

Are they going to be able to be monogrammed? Like initials or names?

jessluv10 said...

Oh, or the name of the like your Audrey Shoes or your Lauren shoes will also be in the shoe some how?

jessluv10 said...

Will the boy shoe line that you have started have a different name? not Mia Joie?

Jessica Haley said...

Hmmm, such interesting comments! At first they were so accurate--though not the answer--that I was almost baffled. But then they got increasingly interesting, and admittedly fun for me to read.

The correct answer has been given--I will write more once I get a chance. Oh, and definitely NOT pregnant, though I found that comment insightful. ;)

Meredith K said...

Oh my gosh the suspense is killing me. I was thinking about it all night. Can't wait to hear on the new project as well as the answer..winner.

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

can't you twitter the answer and then follow up with a detailed blog post later??? ;) I'm just kidding of course but like Meredith I find my mind keeps coming back to the pictures and wondering what the answer is!

Jessica Haley said...

Okay--Jen. I will, just for you. :)

Meredith said...

Oh and will you be making those to sell as well? I love those little red shoes. Well let's be honest I LOVE all Mia Joie shoes and I NEED MORE ;)

Mrs.LifeAccounts said...

Yay! Congrats to Ariana! I still have my fingers crossed that you'll be posting them for sale as my sewing machine will be in storage for AT LEAST the next year... :/

Just spent an hour (with baby Harlow on my lap) reading through your journey (Blog) and adoring all of the beautiful shoes, headbands and clothing (oh my I hope you list more of those dresses...beautiful!).

I am so in love, I feel such happiness when I look at the things you have made and I figure even if I can't get my hands on more shoes (still keeping fingers crossed) I can just admire your amazing pictures of the shoes you have created and sold.

Thank you for taking your time to make such wonderful shoes and accessories because for ME it is more than just a beautiful shoe, it's the smile and feeling of such happiness that comes over me when I put something so sweet on my baby girl.

Your so generous (thank you so much for all of the goodies) and I hope you don't stop creating such beautiful stuff anytime soon because I adore Mia Joie.

Ariana said...

Oh my gosh Jessica! That is awesome! You are so creative. I have to have another baby girl now so I can put the shoes on her...J/K! (no, really) J/K! Hmm....

Jessica Haley said...

Good guess, Ariana! Now you just need to figure out what to do with a size 1 pair baby shoes ;)
Emaill me your current address: miajoieboutique@yahoo.com

I'll post more about why I decided to list patterns, as well as offer some fun new ooak things in a new post soon.

Mande said...

Happy New Year Jessica! Love the pictures of the kids. What a fun present for both of them. I have to admit, I was thinking baby news too. So excited for you to list the patterns. Can't wait to see the OOAK items. I am crossing my fingers for more hair accessories. :)

Clarissa said...

OMG! My DREAM come true! You are listing patterns!?! My baby girl is due March 9th so, I'm *HOPING* that you list before then so I can get started!! hee hee

Jessica Haley said...

Clarissa,

They are up in my Etsy shop! Congrats on your baby girl on the way!!! Btw, I thought of you when I listed them. You sent me several emails over a year ago making the suggestion. Do you remember? ;)

Clarissa said...

Hee hee YES! I remember!! :) I am sooo excited--I squealed when I seen the listing just now!

That may seem odd, but in fact, it is a very
effective mode for people with some degrees of visual impairment,
since when you focus on white letters, you are focussing on light itself.
Ebooks are available in PDF format also and some
of websites provides booklet in various formats like Audio textbook so it becomes more easy to understand these books.
I didn't have much money to spend, and some friends had told me that you could get a free laptop by signing up with a new broadband provider, or new mobile phone provider.
