Gold Buckles and Blue Shoes

Today Mia and I were eating manchego grilled cheese sandwiches and blackberries for lunch, when she looked at me and in her little soprano voice said, "I need blue shoes, I think."

"Blue, is that right?"

She looked pensive, then agreed: "Yes, blue. Thank you, Mommy." She is so sweet; it's rather hard to refuse her. So, I made a pair of blue shoes for my Mia {shown above.} The weather here has gotten suddenly warm, and spring seems abruptly upon us with lots of pink branches in bloom. It was a sunny afternoon, so I took the little blue shoes outside for a quick photo.

I also made some little satin shoes with the same buckles I used for the Sabrina's, but in an antique gold color. I used organic eucalyptus in the lining. These shoes are not yet available for purchase and went to a very important individual for an unique situation.

I know my designs and blog posts have been hitting my feminine side pretty hard. {What can I say, with Valentine's Day, I've been feeling a bit entitled.} Maybe I should design something graphic and modern next...

Several different customers who I hadn't heard from in awhile dropped me a note last week to say they were thinking of and praying for Mia Joie. I just have to say, the timing was so very apropo and a wonderful encouragement for me. Thank you!

I hope that you all are having a lovely weekend. I received many, many requests and inquiries about the McKenna Riding boots. I will be offering a full range of sizes available for purchase, probably the end of this week. I will give you a day or two of notice and post the time via Twitter. Wishing you a bit of rest and sunshine this Sunday, wherever in the world you are.

Really? I'm so glad you think so. I have to say, one thing about having made so many shoes is that I feel desensitized to cuteness. With my first pairs of shoes, I used to look at them and feel so pleased. Now, they all start to look the same to me.

What a little sweetie requesting shoes from her very own personal shoe designer :)

And oh my, the pink shoes are gorgeous! I wish I could have a pair in my size, definitely my new favorite :)

Jessica,

Mia is beyond adorable and so sweet and conscientious of her fashion requirements :D Mia's blues are so reminiscent of Cinderella's slippers from the Disney film, just beautiful. And I <3 <3 <3 the insole for the pinks. Very Irregular Choice/Betsey Johnson.

I'm so sorry I have not managed to write you since the first parcel arrived. Be assured I was floored *FLOORED* by the contents. Thank you kindly oh so much!

It is my turn it seems to be so hurried and harried that I have little or no time for the little things I do for myself.

Send early spring this way please! I'm ready to see some bright greens on nature's palette!

Ha, Ha! Rocio, your comment especially made me laugh. You're not the first customer to admit to stalking, and I have been known to stalk a few blogs myself. :)

Those of you watching for the boots, as I said, I will give a min. 24 hours notice, so you will know when to purchase them.

I have to tell you....

After Mia's nap, I gave her the little blue shoes. Meredith, your comments were in line with Mia's because she commented, "Mommmy! GLASS SLIPPERS!!!! They're beautiful!" {Only the last part came out in her adorable little lisp and sounded more like "boooo-ti-ful".

I recieved my last order and wanted to Thank You for the elastic band to put my little flowers clips on, your incredibly generous and oh so talented. It works perfectly and I can't wait for Harlow to wear those shoes since I wasn't able to snag her current size, hoping I can get my hands on some spring/summer shoes really soon. ;). Do you have any plans on listing some peep toe shoes? I have dreamed of owning such a pair since I found you <3 Hope your getting some much deserved downtim and hope things are getting better. Thanks again for brightening my days.

I also dream of peep toe shoes :) Any plans for those before Easter?

These are absolute perfection! They remind me of my two girls' fairytale loves: blue for Cinderella and pink for Sleeping Beauty. (The pink are my favorite!) As a photographer, I would love to get some of your headbands-seems I never catch the sales, though.

Jessica Haley said...

Sorry about the delayed reply...

Definitely more headbands in the immediate future. As for peep toes, I actually have several new ballet flats I have yet to photograph that I was planning on offering first. I suppose if enough people lobby for peep toes, I could be swayed to postpone the ballet flats in favor of peep toes.

Katie, your weather comments always make me chuckle. thanks :)
