Blackberry Patch

Robert and I stumbled on a wild blackberry patch going on a walk with the kids last week; here are a few photos...

Sara {one of our Joyfolie staff} with my Mia, when we returned to the same spot for a product shoot a few days later. You can read more about her and others on staff here. I'm so very tired and have been keeping the oddest schedule, burning the candle at both ends. $2 Giveways, product sales/availability are coming very soon...

I LOVE black berrys!! At my old house growing up there was a tree that had them (or something very similar) growing over our fence. I use to climb the fence and eat them for hours. Once I grew up I tried doing the same thing until I realized all the tiny bugs living in them:( Yuck!

Hope your having better days Jessica!!

Are dewberries the same or similar? My boys went picking at my sister in laws not to long ago. They brought home 3 halloween buckets full. I made 2 pies and one gluten free cobbler for the little man. Here is the recipe from

In an unbaked pie shell(premade/raw/store bought) place enough berries to fill level with the top. Mix together the following:
2 well beaten eggs
1 1/2 c sugar
1/3 flour
1/2 c heavy cream or evaporated milk (I used hc)

The batter should be thick. Pour over berries and allow to settle to the bottom.

8 tbsp. flour
8 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. butter

Mix until crumbly(with hands) and sprinkle over pie. Bake 300-325 for 1.5 hours or until golden brown.

Note: Can use any kind of fruit. Be sure fruit has no juice when put in pie shell.

My husband likes this chilled but I like it hot with some Bluebell Homemade Vanilla.

For the gluten free cobbler, I used no crust and replaced the flour with Pamela's Baking/Pancake Mix.

I found your blog about a month ago and i'm in love. I seriously can't get over how cute those peep toes are. You are an inspiration. I just started a creative-how to blog and added you as a link. Maybe you could eventually add mine to your sidebar :). Anyways, thanks for sharing your wonderful talents, have a great day!
