Dreamy

Photobucket

Photo by Trevor Tondro for The New York Times from here

Today I am dreaming of....

*a bigger studio. Maybe a little larger than the photo above. Gorgeous stained concrete floors, bright and white, and great light for photos. Still something on our property, but in it's own building. It would be a visual feast... have room for a rustic farm table for employee meetings, dress forms, lots of green plants that I magically wouldn't kill... that sort of thing.

*being able to staff the order/shipping/bookkeeping process entirely. I'm not there yet, but I have a plan. I am so overwhelmed right now.

*a trip to California. Robert and I are planning our 10 year anniversary super last minute. We are talking about Mendocino and traveling the gorgeous winding coasts of California.

*a bedroom that looks like this. Ours is a perpetual landmine of laundry baskets.

*taking our kids to a cabin on the beach, some place where the weather is delightfully chilly in the morning, and we can have bonfires at sunset and just rest and play.

What about you? What are you dreaming of today? Come on, don't be shy. And just for fun, for anyone who leaves a comment between now and midnight on Saturday, I'll pick one winner who will receive a small mystery gift {for a woman/not a child.}

Your dreams sound fantastic Jessica. I am dreaming of a spa day...I would settle for a pedicure. Taking the family to the beach would be wonderful- there is nothing like a bonfire on the beach & we have yet to do that with the kiddos. Hope your dreams come true Jessica. xo

Oh how I love reading your Blog posts Jessica, your dreams are even beautiful :)

I am dreaming of a little vacation away from it all but we need the money for it first and my husband would have to take a few days off of work which he usually doesn't do. I don't even care where we go or how far we get away, but would love to stay in a hotel for a couple nights and do some fun stuff with the kids.

Ahh! Michelle! I will email you this morning. I thought I did, actually... so wondering if I emailed the wrong Michelle!

I'm dreaming of a new home, complete with hardwood floors, white slipcovered furniture, white subway tiles, and soapstone countertops...maybe someday!

I'm dreaming of a larger home surrounded by beautiful flower-filled fields with the most glorious golden hour light! My home would have a photography studio just a few stone steps away from the house and it would be full of windows, beautiful hardwood floors, and my collection of antique furniture and props and printed backdrop fabrics. The perfect place to capture amazing images, indoor and out! This is my dream! Thanks for letting me share a glimpse of it!

I am also dreaming of my own studio. 3 employees working from a 12'x12' office space is kinda cramped...to say the least! I would love to have more room to spread my wings! A seperate building would be nice, too. I can lock the doors at the end of the work day and spend the evening cuddling my precious family!

I'm dreaming of someday moving to a HOME...not a condo or an apartment, a real home. A victorian style with a white picket fence in the country. someday.

I'm dreaming of so many things it's hard to know where to start.

*I'm dreaming of a fabric stash that inspires me
*I'm dreaming of the day I will be able to quit the corporate world and go back into a more creative profession.
*I'm dreaming of having children with my husband and staying home to take care of them
*I'm dreaming of the girly guest room I am mind decorating complete with shabby chic accents, an antique looking metal bed painted white, a crystal chandelier, and all sorts of ruffles and rosettes.

This week my mother and I are launching a company... I dream it would be successful and bless many people. Also I dream for wisdom and creativity.

PS- I like your dreams.

Your dreams are beautiful...

I'm dreaming of a baby and of raising a large family with my husband...

Dreaming of leaving the corporate world and spending more time pursuing my creative passions.

And dreaming of autumn and cooler weather and the beautiful romance it brings in the air.

I love your relaxing blog posts that have nothing to do with shoes! In your spare time, could you write a book??? HAHA! I have a dream the same as yours that our "laundry monster" would disappear and our bedroom would be the peaceful, beautiful rest space that it should be. I'm glad you get a few creative hours to yourself today Jessica... I have a feeling that means we will all benefit from it as well. :-)

Everyone has posted such beautiful dreams. Mine is very simple. I want to be alone in a fancy hotel room for one day. Just be by myself to order room service and watch trashy tv for one whole day and night. I have a almost 3 year old and a 4 month old and a husband who travels alot. And as sweet as my little girl is, no one on earth talks as much as she does. I really need some alone time.

Lisa said...

My dreams are pretty simple right now:
* a full night's sleep (baby is sleeping thru, but I continue to wake up!)

* a end to the laundry pile... I know everyone can relate to this one!

* to be able to go shopping for myself, by myself without worrying about if my daughter is okay at home (does this every go away??)

* to enjoy to time I have at home with my beautiful girl and treasure the little moments as she continues to change on a daily basis!

The little cottage you pictured is pretty close to what I dream of, except maybe 3 times the size in order to fit all five of us! With a big garden behind it, and a sunroom with lots of windows for photography :)

A trip to Cali is one of my dreams too! The hubby and I went to Caliornia for our first trip together almost 10 years ago and our 10 year anniversary is coming up! I am dreaming of a wonderful anniversary day/night. Also dreaming that the perfect job will come along for me after being a stay at home mom for SO many years. I hope you get to achieve your dreams.

I'm dreaming that life would just slooooow doooown for all children today. I dream that God's beautiful children will be allowed the freedom of a beautiful childhood, so that they can foster dreams of their own. <3

I have the song 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables going through my head right now:)

I think my biggest dream right now is for my whole family to live near each other. Not necessarily in the same city, but close so we could get together on a whim if we wanted. That would be the biggest blessing ever:)

Hmmm, another dream would be to have a little getaway with my husband to some cute little cottage on the coast. That would be spectacular!

Ditto on everyone else's dream of conquering the laundry monster! Right when I think it's gone, it keeps coming back!

I am dreaming of spending all day in bed (preferably the bed in the gorgeous white bedroom from your link) with the love of my life (who is fantastically amazing) and a pair of your darling baby shoes (in my size)!

I'm dreaming about a rented beach house on the East Coast somewhere. It would be red, slightly faded from the salt water and sand. I would be sitting on the front porch in a white-washed chair sipping sugary, cream filled coffee with an open Bible in my lap. My kids are still sleeping, as is my husband. I'm watching the waves gently lap against the beach and the only concern for my day is whether to have strawberries or blueberries with the waffles I'll make for breakfast. We'll play in the sand and water until we absolutely must take a nap, which we would do with open windows and breezy, white curtains blowing gently in the beachy breeze.
Thanks for the opportunity to sit and dream. I do believe that my blood pressure has just dropped a few points.

While you have ambitious, almost magical-like dreams, mine are more basic. I would love to get into my car and drive the 5 minutes to anywhere (we live in a small town) and not listen to my 2-year-old SCREAM her head off. My daughter has been my car's background music for 2 1/2 years now--almost straight. Needless to say, she hates the car. I hate the car now, too.
Well, I still love all 20 pounds of my little fire-cracker, but would love a peacefull car ride once in awhile. Then, maybe I'll tackel a beautiful studio that contains all my dreams.

I too have a dream similar to yours, so beautiful~
I dream that someday all the plaster holes in my 100yr old farmhouse will be filled, and that I too will have a bedroom w/o a laundry basket in site. A studio space to inspire me, filled with Amy Butler fabrics, photographs of my babies, and vintage chairs. I dream that we can turn our farm into an inspiration, a place where friends and family will come to just 'breathe'. I dream of making goats-milk-soap in the milk shed out behind the dairy barn (which is full of lumber, not cows, boo.) I dream that our house in a few years will be filled with giggles & laughter of many more little ones.
But most, I wish that I don't waste this precious time with my kids, husband, friends and family, dreaming but doing. Every time I watch my horses graze in the pasture out back, while my son plays in the yard, I sit on my front porch with my husband and baby girl, and think I am dreaming.

Your dream #1 and dream #4 {bedroom} has been EXACTLY what I've been dreaming of for a couple months now. Why is there ALWAYS a giant clutter of paper work floating around my bedroom? UGH.

And the studio, your dream is so identical to mine that it's scary, except I want french doors and a squashy Shabby Chic white slipcovered couch with lots of inspiring pillows. I miss my dining room sooo much, and just hate having a little factory smack in the middle of the house. :(

And ummm are you going to tell me when you are in my backyard?!? :) xoxo

How much time do you have? - I'm dreaming of a custom house with a gourmet kitchen, enough bedrooms for my my kids, kids to come, and guests, my business to take off, my husband to have a job in the same city as us so we can all live under one roof again, a family vacation that brings rest and unity to our family, and the energy to enjoy it all! I am SOO thankful though to have found an opportunity that will someday allow me ALL of these things! God is SO good!

I'm dreaming of a larger home, very well layed out so I can have my work space seperate from any living space yet still where I can see the kids nearby.
I'm dreaming of being able to afford a nanny that can come to my house to help with the kids and household chores so I can create away without interuption.
I dream of cooler weather and a house (larger) where we have some sort of water view and a yard big enough for the kids to run wild (safely)
I dream of being able to work with my hubby, restoring beat up doors, windows, corbels, etc....and making beautiful funky, shabby funiture from them!
All in all I dream of a home {coastal romantic cottage style} in the mountains, near a lake with a large yard and a {insulated} barn so we can house our reproductions and hold sales. Maybe a horse or 2 with chickens (for fresh eggs).
I can dream big, can't I?

My dreams are all over the place...

*That my children grow to be amazing citizens of this world.
*That we stay happy and healthy for years to come.
*That I may have a chance to travel to less fortunate countries and do good deeds.
*That one day (soon) I can get a tummy tuck to make the lines and wrinkles my children have given me on my stomach go away...until the new ones come on my face!

P.S. I'm anxiously waiting the opportunity to buy all of your shoes. When will they be available???

I'm dreaming of the very near and near future
August 13th, that our little tea party farm wedding will be just that - a dream. A fun and sweetly memorable day for us, our families and our friends.
I'm also dreaming of having a beautiful photo of myself and Matt.

And in that photo I'm dreaming of not looking fat, bloated and in the midst of throwing up thanks to the new little dream growing in my belly.

Both Matt and I are dreaming of the new little person who will make their welcomed entrance sometime in february 2011.

Beautiful post, Jessica, just like your beautiful shoes.

We moved to Seattle for my husband's new job and so for the past few months, we've been living in a tiny high rise apartment while we've been house hunting. 2 parents, 2 kids and 2 labs. So here are my dreams after months of missing the comforts of home, familiar faces and our daily routine.

I dream of a doggie door and a lush yard for my dogs to frolic and potty in.

I dream of new little friends for my children.

I dream of my own bed (oh how I miss my soft sheets and pillow), and all the clothes & shoes I wish I would have packed for our temporary place.

I dream of finding local girlfriends that share my interests and beliefs.

And I dream about what our life will be like here...

I dream of owning a white little cottage with my husband and my two girls tucked away in the dreamy woods on a mountain top in mx where we own our few acres of land and grow our own food and have a small farm with a beautiful garden filled with every flower imaginable and surrounded by fruit trees that we may pick freely of and get to worship our lord and praise without having to worry of whose around or who can see. I also dream of having a small clinic so that I can practice holistic medicine and help people heal there ailments using the power of God and natural medicine.

All of your dreams sound so wonderful....
Here are mine:

I dream of a great quite gateway, perhaps Maui, Hawaii, with my hubby for our 8th year anniversary coming up this August.

I dream of (which is obviously impossible) but a dream is a dream.... for my lovely mother to be here with me happy and healthy. Who I lost to cancer just 14 days ago. Miss her terribly. I'll always love you MOM.

I dream of my wonderful daughters to grow up to be wonderful servants of GOD. Also healthy and happy in life.

I dream of peace in this crazy world... at least for a day. So no one would be hurt, killed or hungry. Woultdn't that be wonderful?

I dream.... I dream... I dream...

Thanks so much to everyone for sharing a piece of yourself. Between packaging and designing, yesterday was a busy day, but I really enjoying taking a few minutes every few hours to read the new comments. Some of you wrote about love and some of you loss and some of you a new baby. {WOW--Meredith!! Congrats!} Some of you offered me a place to stay {thanks, Sue! You're so kind!} Some of you were so selfless in your dreams, I was amazed. Some of you wrote about things I could relate to, like wishing for uninterrupted work time {me, too, Prencie} taming the laundry monster, or the pain of moving {Tara, we waited 9 mo to buy a house, so I can relate to missing old friends and familiar comforts of home.}

It's always a risk to be transparent, but it made my day a little brighter. Thank you!!

Oh, I forgot to add, we tried to plan a Cali trip but all the places we liked were booked. So, we are still planning to go, but in Jan/Feb and doing something local on our actual anniversary (Aug.)

Its so nice just to step back for a moment and dream. Thanks for providing a reason to do so:-)
My dream is that in the very near future a miraculous cure for MS will be discovered so that my husband will regain full function of his leg, so that among other things, he can run and play soccer with our boys and so we can return to Paris and walk along its streets together like we did when we were first married. We're still rather young :-) so I'm still very hopeful! I love the song "Dream" by Priscilla Ahn, so airy and... well, dreamy.

- I've always dreamed of living in a cute little 3 bedroom flat in London. Dreamy, Jolly Ol' England!

-I dream to one day be fully green in all I do! Why have modern conveniences taken over my will power? Yuck!

- and lastly, I dream for either more closet space, or less stuff. And to fit in my size 4 jeans once again :)
