Montalcino Sneak Peak

Early Morning by Jasna Hodzic
The smell of rosemary thick in the morning air, rich and nutty coffee, and the crunch of red rocks are some of the sensory images that come to mind when I think of Tuscany. As most of you know, my husband Robert is in the wine industry, and at one point we took a trip to Montalcino, a sleepy Italian town known mostly for it's wine, brunello. We stayed in a country farmhouse at the base of the hill of the city, walked the rolling landscape, and had a private dinner at Castello Banfi; we pretty much ate, drank wine, and otherwise lounged about. Quite a different experience to life at this moment, with a clamoring to-do list and children currently rattling off a list of comments and conjectures as I type.
Montalcino is know for it's rich colors of olive, terra cotta, gold and plum, a perfect fit for fall season. So I thought it would be fun to design some pieces inspired by those travels using fabrics like coppery velvet, plum satin, and cognac leather. I have been working on several different items on and off, most of which will be one-of-a-kind pieces. However, this is more like a creative indulgence than a business necessity. Plus, I am, as you know, quite a busy girl these days, so I'm not sure when I'll get everything together. As it is, Mia is showing me the spider she caught, and Aidan just dumped out Robert's box of a thousand business cards. So, here is a sneak peak at this project with more designs to come. The boots are called Lucky Penny; they are made from the silkiest copper velvet and each boot features a dozen hand stitched mother of pearl buttons. Happy Thursday!

Your boots are just inspired this autumn Jessica. They really are beautiful, I'm starting to want pairs in my size not just for Bronwyn
Meredith, I've actually looked into women's shoes on a small scale. I would love to go that direction at some point. Being 5'2", I have a thing for heels, so you probably won't see anything for women produced by Joyfolie until I spend some time researching and testing this option.
Just day-dreaming lady :)
And admitting my envy of you and other "short" girls. I don't know whether it's the 5'9" or a lack of centre of gravity (haha!) but me and heels have never been on speaking terms. I do admire them from afar though!
Okay, duly noted... I can appreciate a comfy flat now and then, too :)
No love for the spider but lot's of LOVE for those fabulous boots. Gorgeous as always, I hope to score a pair for Harlow and look forward to one day getting some Joyfolie on my older daughter Paige.
Thanks, Meredith K! What size does Paige wear in clothes?
LOVE these!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these!!! xoxoxo
Swoon!!!!
These boots are to die for! I'd love them for me! I am, regrettably, an UGG addict...they are practical for running errands in MN fall and winter. It's already COLD here (which means I've already been wearing my UGGs this season)! My little Marley would look so cute in a pair of these :) A girl can hope and dream!
These are GORGEOUS! I love the little buttons especially.
