Rainy Day Red
"All was silent as before -
All silent save the dripping rain."
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
All silent save the dripping rain."
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Today was a perfectly stormy, rainy day. I love the rain. It creates the perfect atmosphere for some of my favorite things: cuddling with my kids, a good book, a cup of tea, a calming atmosphere to create.
For some reason, the rain and the vibrant green suddenly made sense of some red shoes that have long been sitting on my studio table. I really wanted to photograph them in a puddle, but by the time I got my camera out and the kiddos settled, all the puddles had evaporated. {Darn you, Houston heat!}
Thus, the little red lace shoes in a tangle of dripping vines...
They are called Portia and finished with reclaimed vintage velvet flower. It is an old proverb that red is a symbol of love triumphant. Indeed.
Here are a few more random images centered about rain and red.

Okay, this doesn't exactly tie into the theme. But look at this color! I think the little lace shoes should be worn with an outfit taken from this color palette.

These are beautiful...I love rain as well, especially late summer rain.
Very cute. I love the red lace.
Thank you for the positive comments. The flower placement on the toe looks really cute when you can see them worn on both feet. I have a size 7. I'll sell them... :)
These are really pretty Jess... So jealous you had rain there ;)
I am also very jealous of the rain! Rainy and cloudy is my favorite weather, ONLY if I can stay inside though. If I'm out and about, not so much! :) And the shoes are perfect as usual. xoxo
Gorgeous!
And we just got rain here yesterday so this is a perfect inspiration for today!
Especially love the t-straps! So precious! What a beautiful shoe!!
I am new to your site:) Beautiful work!! Was curious to when these shoes will be posted? I have gathered that your shoes are a hot commodity:) I see you are from Houston, I live in Kingwood:)

Beautiful!!!! I have been in LOVE with lace lately. BTW, Lillie has been living in her "Colonial Williamsburg" shoes (that is what Jon calls the blue ones you sent!) They are becoming her favorites! Will e-mail you back soon, I promise!
Lol, Jen! Robert and I called them the George Washington shoes. Take a picture--I want to see them! Hope you are feeling okay. I haven't forgotten about the McKenna boots, but {as you know} I've got a big project moving right along *wink.*

I love rainy days too and the creativity they bring. There is something to be said for cozy feelings and hot tea to inspire one's creative energy.
I love the little shoes. They are precious.
