Houston Quilt Show

"Just around the corner in every woman's mind - is a lovely dress, a wonderful ribbon, or entire costume which will make an enchanting new creature of her."
~Wilhela Cushman

It was my grandmother's birthday, and we celebrated by going to the quilt show together. A good portion of the booths were not of my particular persuasion, but there were a few that offered fantastic wares: hand dyed silk ribbons, velvet trim, vintage beads, antique lace, and sparkling sequins. I took a few pictures so you could shop the market vicariously...

Most of the pictures are from one booth, Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods that was grouped by color and fabulously marketed.... so much detail! You will see some of these exquisite materials make there way into some new products; some of these goodies included Vera Wang trim, vintage abalone buckles, and hand dyed ribbon.

The pièce de résistance was uncontestedly a card of vintage buttons, which will make there way into some velvet belts that will pair perfectly with the Lavalia jacket. They are from the 1940's and were imported from Germany. They are jaw dropping fabulous and cost a pretty penny, too.

Hope you enjoyed the virtual shopping trip. Happy Monday!

My one big weakness....accessories!!!! I can't get enough of gorgeous buttons, ribbons, and fabrics. How did you fair?? Did you buy everything or did you hold back??:)

Hmm, I shopped judiciously, I would say. The prices were very high, I thought, but there were some things I bought in the dozens, so I can at least offer a decent qty.
