Procrastination in Pretty Blues
a.k.a. Sadie Olive.
I should be designing. But instead, I am procrastinating. What's with that, anyway? I love to design. Sometimes, I guess, a little break does go a long way. So....
I thought I would pop in to say hello with a blog quickie. Above are a new pair of shoes {not for the project I am supposed to be working on} and some things I have been admiring. The shoes are a play on womens trendy booties. Photo below is from here.
I love pretty much everything from Sadie Olive. I am thinking there might be fodder for a future Photo Friday *wink* Likewise, everything from the Shabby Chic Cottage is tdf, especially these ruffled tea towels. I also just made a post on the Joyfolie FB page, please do contribute! I would love as much feedback as possible. Happy Tuesday!
PS Winner of the Dreamy Giveaway will be announced by the end of the week!
Baby Kate
something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it.
I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean
in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos
or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle."

Photo Folie - Black, Copper and a Hint of Sparkle

These would be so cute with little distressed toddler jeans and a trendy silhouette t-shirt. {Can't you picture it?}

9 am this morning we had a dentist appoint. As it turned out, Aidan didn't have a cavity but fractured his tooth. We speculate it happened when he broke his nose. Looking at the x-ray, I'm amazed the tooth was still in his mouth. So, considering the seriousness of the situation, they decided to treat him today. Let's just say it was 5 hours and a half a grand later that we {Aidan, Mia, and I} came home with a one-tooth-less and mighty cranky little boy.
The dentist gave him an oral anesthetic that will make him forget the entire experience. Let's hope so, since the entire way home, he kept saying, "You left me! You left me!" because I wasn't allowed to stay for the extraction. This medication didn't sit well with Aidan, and he was sick all afternoon and evening. When Aidan throws up, he gets this panicked I-can't-believe-this-is-happening-to-me look. So, instead of staying in one place, he runs around in a mad panic while he's ill. Imagine if that happening to your house six times. Pretty sure this goes down as one of my worst parenting days ever. Oh, and while I was dealing with a sick episode from Aidan, Mia spilled chocolate milk over an entire white curtain panel. *sigh* I wish I could say I felt filled with compassion for him, but honestly Aidan was so angry and demanding that I wanted to crawl up the walls with my fingernails or lock myself in the bathroom.
Anyhow, I managed to squeeze in a photo of some shoes at sunset... not of the shoes I had in mind, but a pair for you nonetheless. Here is my hurting baby boy resting on his daddy's chest. Thanks for listening to my horrible mommy day. Hope your TGIF was smoother than mine! Oh, and there is one more day to share your dreams and enter the mini-giveaway.
Dreamy
Photo by Trevor Tondro for The New York Times from here
Today I am dreaming of....
*a bigger studio. Maybe a little larger than the photo above. Gorgeous stained concrete floors, bright and white, and great light for photos. Still something on our property, but in it's own building. It would be a visual feast... have room for a rustic farm table for employee meetings, dress forms, lots of green plants that I magically wouldn't kill... that sort of thing.
*being able to staff the order/shipping/bookkeeping process entirely. I'm not there yet, but I have a plan. I am so overwhelmed right now.
*a trip to California. Robert and I are planning our 10 year anniversary super last minute. We are talking about Mendocino and traveling the gorgeous winding coasts of California.
*a bedroom that looks like this. Ours is a perpetual landmine of laundry baskets.
*taking our kids to a cabin on the beach, some place where the weather is delightfully chilly in the morning, and we can have bonfires at sunset and just rest and play.
What about you? What are you dreaming of today? Come on, don't be shy. And just for fun, for anyone who leaves a comment between now and midnight on Saturday, I'll pick one winner who will receive a small mystery gift {for a woman/not a child.}
"If you never have a dream, you'll never have a dream come true."

In Kind
“Write injuries in sand, kindnesses in marble” ~French proverb
* * *
It's unfortunate that in our culture we are so busy, so driven, so perpetually moving that kindness, like chivalry, can sometimes feel antiquated. We expect most people to be operating under the pressures of their own agenda, driven by the momentum of their hectic schedule and private objectives.
By contrary, I recently encountered a situation where someone was unexpectedly kind--so kind, in fact, that I left the situation a little stunned by it. It was a kindness that was unnecessary and unselfish and unforeseen. And it centered me in a way I did not expect.
I believe certain things about why we are here: to encourage each other in the pursuit of faith, to heal more than we wound, to grow as people. Sometimes I get tied up in the knots of anxieties and pressures and to-do lists. It's so natural because things like money and work do impact our life. But how we treat those around us, the cultivation of our character.... those are the things that last.
So, wherever you are this week, I pray you are blessed by an unexpected act of kindness, and that likewise you have the opportunity to risk kindness to someone God places in your path.
Blessings!

Canary Yellow and Plum
I have a few shoes in a series that I wanted to show you with the design below. However, I need to post some times for selling inventory, and I was fatiguing of the boring "Dalia at 2 pm" post with no new photos. So, I have some lovely items above which include some of my favorite Etsians whom I have watched grow and develop their business over the years. As for the shoes, here is an introductory photo...
I will be listing the Dalia shoes in a soft gold at 2 pm CST today, and the Leopard Flats size 4-8 at 9 pm CST tonight. Additionally, I will offer the brown linen shoes size 2-8, and hopefully one or two additional designs similar to the Fankie and Harlow. I would like to finish the new shoes mentioned, but I have so much on the docket {oh, how appropriate} and of course my kiddos to take care of, as well. I haven't really written much for quite some time, and miss our honest dialogue about life and parenting. Hope you are well, my friends!

Yardley and an Ensemble

“As every thread of gold is valuable, so is every moment of time”
One of these designs, Yardley, will be available Monday at noon, size 2-8. These shoes have a vintage/heirloom quality to them. They are a cream colored satin with gold blooms with beaded center. I think the cream shoes will look even more lovely and vintage with a bit of wear...
Product details: 1. Piper Hair Clip by Joyfolie {listing coming soon!} 2. Scalloped Sweater Tank by Janie & Jack 3. Camelia Pleated Trench by Burberry 4. Yardley shoes by Joyfolie 5. Destructed Crop Jeans by Gap 6. Angelic Pendant by Hippie Chic
Additional shoes will be posted on Monday, July 12 at 9 pm CST, and Wednesday July 14 at 2 pm CST and 9 pm CST. The leopard shoes will be available on Wednesday. As for Monday evening, I am thinking some brown everyday shoes and more gold shoes--if I can get good photos.
I hope you had a lovely weekend! Mine wasn't very restful. Business has been busy, plus Mia went to bed at 10:30 pm on Saturday, couldn't sleep from 2-3 am, then woke up at 7:30 am! It's like having a newborn! Are any of your children creating bizarre sleeping patterns now that it's summer? Any tips? It's really wearing on me!
Saturday Morning Items
more Cherrie shoes size 5-7 multiples per size
Marrissa shoes, in pink 3, cherry red 4 and 6, and raspberry 4
Nichelle in size 5 multiple pairs
Additional styles and sizes will be available On Monday at noon and 9 pm CST, and Wednseday 2 pm. Some of these styles will include leopard flats, gold shoes in 4 different styles, Kaila, brown "every day" Joyfolie shoes, and more!

Lilac and Seaglass
Toile and ruffles pair together for a very vintage look. I love this shade of sea glass. Most of the rooms in our house are a version of sage, blue-green. It has a lovely, calming quality. The shoes were available here, but sold before I got a chance to finish this post.
I hope you enjoy the photos of some of little pretties photographed in the morning light of my kitchen garden window.
Photo Friday - Distressed Grey and Lavender
In case you weren't around last Friday, I decided to start a new blog series where I design something new inspired by a photo. Today shoes are one-of-a-kind, made from reclaimed grey pin stripe fabric with vintage-y ruffle and bow detail. One pair only, available here. Special thanks for Moonlight Photography for the inspiration!
I have several other items to post, but I hear Mia bumping and thumping and not napping upstairs, as well as storm clouds rumbling over head. I'm going to do my best! :)
