Happy 3rd Birthday, Mia!

Photobucket

Today my baby girl is three! I can't believe it. I was looking over past photos last night, and couldn't believe how much she has changed and grown! Every year I take the kids' photos on their birthday. (You can see last year's here.) But, between Mia's current saucy little disposition, and the weather, all I am getting is this:

If you want to walk with me down memory lane, here are a few of my favorite of Mia over the past year, starting with when she first turned two and working to present:

Photo Folie - Pink and Black

Photobucket
photo montage from here

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving with family! I'm curious how many of you braved the 3 am shopping crowds. For me, I used it as an opportunity to get some rest! Mia's birthday is on Monday, and Aidan's on Wednesday, so it's plenty busy around here without adding Christmas shopping. Today's Photo Friday is an old image and a new one.

The Kat shoes....

And the Ophelia in Rose....

Both of these will be available at the Joyfolie website on Sunday at 9pm CST!

The Baby Bootie Pattern is Back!

Photobucket
Good morning! I miss blogging! I perpetually feel like I am never "around" any more! What's keeping me away has been working so hard on launching a thousand new pieces. I'm so excited about these new items, and I'm terribly disappointed that my suppliers will not have them to me in time for Black Friday. I don't expect we will launch too much later, especially since I want to offer them to you in plenty of time for Christmas.

If you haven't read already, the items that are coming include faux fur wraps to be shared by mother and daughter, fun embellished tees (a few designs for women, too!), new dress and ruffled long sleeved jackets for little girls, velvet belts with vintage buttons from Germany, glittered postcards, crystal necklaces, belts for women, and of course shoes and boots, too! All these items will launch together. Orders over certain dollar amounts will get something free, and all purchases will be entered in a drawing for a giveaway.

In the mean time, I rebranded my baby bootie pattern under Joyfolie. If you have purchased this in the past from me, it is not any different, just now under the Joyfolie name (as opposed to Mia Joie) and has a few new photos.

It's a great pattern for gift giving, and even if you don't have a sewing machine, you can hand sew them fairly quickly, too, even using scraps of fabric you may have around the house. The pattern is available here.

I made 6 pair of baby booties to photograph....

Photo Folie - Lavender, Tweed, and Sequins

Photobucket
photo from here

I originally designed this photo Friday to be an entire outfit, but after a string of rainy days, I had to change directions a bit. These shoes are the perfect shade for the girl who loves purple and the mom who can't stand the stereotypical girlie girl colors. They feature a gorgeous tweed and Vera Wang trim from my recent shopping trip. Available here tonight at 7 pm CST.

I wanted to photograph an entire outfit, but had to settle for a horrible knock out instead... a sneak peak at some of our new dresses. Everything, even the graphic mod tights, are by Joyfolie.
Photobucket

Here is a photo of Mia in the Jada headband, just a few available tonight at 7 pm. Again, I intended to take a better photo, but weather did not allow! The shirt is by one of my fav sellers and friend, Jen of Dear Lillie. My darling girl could not stop singing for a single photo!

At long last Photo Friday... on a Monday!

Journey of a Headband

Andrea, a photographer friend of mine, did such a great job capturing the recent images of one of her clients, that I had to share them with you! The same Sophia Headband is worn in both shots. You can see all the photos that Andrea took here.

Houston Quilt Show

Photobucket
"Just around the corner in every woman's mind - is a lovely dress, a wonderful ribbon, or entire costume which will make an enchanting new creature of her."
~Wilhela Cushman

It was my grandmother's birthday, and we celebrated by going to the quilt show together. A good portion of the booths were not of my particular persuasion, but there were a few that offered fantastic wares: hand dyed silk ribbons, velvet trim, vintage beads, antique lace, and sparkling sequins. I took a few pictures so you could shop the market vicariously...
Photobucket

Most of the pictures are from one booth, Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods that was grouped by color and fabulously marketed.... so much detail! You will see some of these exquisite materials make there way into some new products; some of these goodies included Vera Wang trim, vintage abalone buckles, and hand dyed ribbon.

The pièce de résistance was uncontestedly a card of vintage buttons, which will make there way into some velvet belts that will pair perfectly with the Lavalia jacket. They are from the 1940's and were imported from Germany. They are jaw dropping fabulous and cost a pretty penny, too.
