Design a Day - Day 16 (Slouch Boots)
Gemdrop leather pin by Viridian, Luxe Italian linen scarf by Tobi, and scalloped skirt and knee sock photo from Ployvore.
Inspired by shades of tan and brown, today's shoes have a similarly earthy pallet. These boots are not a new design, but actually a remake of the very first boots I made, back in my Etsy days. Now in a darker more durable version, they are made from a brown stretchy cotton with petite waffle weave texture. They have a tan suede strap and leather flower detail. The flower is a removable alligator clip, so those of you who prefer a simple/modern design can wear the boots that way... or the clip can be worn independently.
In truth, as soon as I made these, I was wishing I would have gone with a different color... perhaps something a bit more kiddish, like a dusty blue with cream flower... or a hunter green with a multicolored flower like on the Saidi {wouldn't that have been fun!} Sometimes I know exactly how I want the design to be when I start, and other times I muddle my way through... today was the latter!
Back to the browns and taupes, I do love all the items in the additional pictures, especially this sign from Made by Girl. I do love you blogs and coffee!!

i do have to say that these are one of my absolute favorites!!! i can just imagine my baby girl in these in a year or 2. these would be staple to every little girl's closet in these colors, but i would adore them in a dusty blue, lavender, or even teal.. oh the possibilities!!!

Hello Joy, I saw these cute baby boots today and they were sooo similar to your that I couldn't believe they weren't yours. Anyway, there were a couple of design parts about it I thought you could incorporate. Or not. LOL They were boots like the ones in this post except the material was a teal damask, vinyl type of material and on the very top of the boot there was a ribbon material standing up. It was hot pink, about 3 inches wide and sewed into the top of the boot so that it could stand up and was ruffely. Now, IDK if yours is like this or not but I thought it was cool. LOL You know how a normal boot would have a zipper on the side of the boot? Well, think instead of a zipper but velcro. The velcro was hidden inside and I didn't even know it velcroed until I was inspecting it. It was so cute, just like your stuff. Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you. :) Alicia Hodges
