Design a Day - Day 17 (Inspired by Color)
“I found I could say things with color that I couldn't say any other way -
things I had no words for.”
-Georgia O'Keeffe
things I had no words for.”

Today's shoes were inspired by color--a full spectrum. There is something beautiful about the way all the colors come together and some how make sense of each other in a delightful smattering clear across the spectrum. Similarly, I have noticed the sparkle shoe trend... glittered shoes for women, in particular in a rainbow of colors; something like Kate Spade's lovely shoes below, called "Charmed."
In truth, I had the most beautiful shade of dusty, burnt pink that I almost went with instead. But I thought, if we are going to do glitter, let's really do it... in a way that you can't find any where else or hasn't been done before for a little girl shoe before. {I would rather make something that not everyone likes than make something that is expected.}
So, my girl and I made glittered fabric. Oh, yes... we made it--in multi and in dusty pink {for my own personal collection.} If you are envisioning bursts of glitter and trails of it through the house, that would not be too far off the mark! Oh, dear, what a delightful mess! I just hope that when she is grown, Mia will remember being part of the business, and that tiny as she is, she has an influence. After all, Joyfolie used to bear her name and was inspired by her.
So, today's shoes, in my estimation, are perfect! They take the little girl glitter shoe to a different place. They aren't lined with anything tacky, but our usual soft and textured organic cotton. The flowers are {in typical Joyfolie fashion} a bright cerise pink.

A rainbow of colors makes me think of so many pretty things, like this colorful summer scarf from Anthropologie, a colorful blend of pretty cupcakes, or these amazing multi-colored seed bombs, which are perfect for spring!

I hope you don't look at these little shoes and think fancy. While they could go that route {they sparkle like mad!} I think they would be perfect for every day, like with blue, orange, navy or red. Any color will do, and will pick up that color in the glitter. The shoes are called Khloe. I have one pair in size 5, available here.

LLOOOVVEEEEE the shoes!!! :)
Thanks, Shannon! I wish I would have taken some photos of them at dusk--they are so sparkly, esp at twilight!
I was so sad to miss these, the late night uploads just kill me! If you don't manufacture these, can you write a tutorial on how you glittered them? I just love these shoes (and really really want the flats in womens, I already bought the Kate Spade Charm heels!) and think they would be fabulous with any outfit.
these are beautiful!! What little girl doesn't like sparkle!
These are beautiful! Could totally seem them with a nice casual jean and t-shirt combo...the shoes make it fabulous!
I REALLY need these in my size - I would wear them all the time! Honestly we're all really little princesses at heart aren't we? Keep up the fabulous work!
These are just amazing Jessica, just when I think I have a favorite you make another pair that I just LOVE! Oh how sad it wasn't me that got them. I can't wait to make those magnets, thanks for sharing. I just got a sewing machine and now need to learn to use it ;)
When you are set to post the shoes to be sold today, Wednesday, will it first go live at your blog, or website? Waiting feverishly by the computer....I have a 22 month old girl that I would LOVE to buy some of your shoes for! :)
